Western Michigan Unveils New Football Helmets

The Western Michigan football team will have a new look when they take the field next year. The school’s athletic page describes the new helmets like this:

WMU is adopting a new look for the upcoming fall with an all brown Bronco logo that wraps around the traditional gold helmet with the logo starting above the all brown facemask on the right side (when looking at the helmet head on), wrapping back to the center bottom of the helmet.

On the left side will be the player’s number, which will stand alone. This helmet will be the primary helmet for the Broncos moving forward and will be worn with almost all uniform combinations.

The Broncos seems to find a sweetspot in uniform design that allows for a bold look without being over the top. That being said, these may not register a “perfect score” with fans since the bronco on the helmet is reminiscent of the Boise State Pro Combat design from Nike. What do you think?
