The Michigan Wolverines may have left Illinois with an impressive win, but they also left with an injured starter.
Forward Jordan Morgan went down with an ankle injury just minutes into the game. While he eventually returned to the bench, he did not return to the game.
The Wolverines arrived back to Ann Arbor late last night, too late for Morgan to get an X-ray. An X-ray was scheduled to be performed this morning, although results are not yet available.
That leaves Morgan’s status for Wednesday’s game against Northwestern up in the air.
As long as the X-ray doesn’t show anything too concerning and any lingering pain is manageable, Morgan will play according to John Beilein:
“If he’s able to go, we’ll need every man on deck for Northwestern. Without question.”
Max Bielfeldt and Jon Horford saw increased playing time with Morgan out. If Morgan can’t play on Wednesday, Beilein will likely choose between Horford and Mitch McGary to fill the hole in the starting lineup. It was Horford who got the second half start last night, with McGary keeping his role as an energetic big man off the bench.
