Allen Iverson– an 11 time All-Star — hasn’t competed in the NBA since the 2009-2010 season (more than two full years have since passed), but he apparently has the desire to return to the hardwood.
My dream has always been to complete my legacy in the NBA

Iverson was being courted by the Dallas Mavericks to join their D-League affiliate as a route to a possible NBA comeback, but Iverson doesn’t see that route as a fit for him.
I thank Donnie and Dallas for the consideration and while I think the D-League is a great opportunity, it is not the route for me.

Iverson, now 37 years old, likely believes that he has the talent to jump straight back into the NBA, but if teams believed that was the case, he’d probably have a contract right now. Accepting a position in the D-League would give him the opportunity to prove that he once again belongs in the world’s top league, but doing so would mean swallowing a bit of pride and probably accepting one of the smaller paychecks of his life.
