The Detroit Pistons are fresh off an impressive 119-109 win over the San Antonio Spurs last night, but today brings a new — and almost more important — challenge. The Bucks sit in eighth place in the Eastern Conference standings — the final playoff position — with the Pistons 7.5 games behind them. If Detroit is holding out the (rather slim) hope of making the playoffs, this final of head-to-head game becomes a sort of must-win. The Pistons are 2-1 versus the Bucks this season, but their disposition towards extended losing streaks have mostly kept them from competing for playoff positioning.
Detroit will again be without Andre Drummond who will miss a number of weeks with a back injury, so they’re going to be counting on Greg Monroe for much of their interior production. Detroit’s last trip to Milwaukee saw them win by two, but it was Tayshaun Prince (now in Memphis) who lead the team in scoring with 20 points. Detroit’s current compliment of players are certainly have the ability to win tonight, but they’re probably not good enough to make it a regular habit of going on the road an winning with one of their best players sidelined with an injury.
Prediction: Milwaukee 100, Detroit 94
