Michigan State’s Offensive Coordinator Leaving for New Orleans Saints

Many Michigan State football fans were less than impressed with the Spartans offense last fall.

It was often ineffective and uncreative. They were breaking in Andrew Maxwell as the new starting quarterback but offensive coordinator Dan Roushar was often the scapegoat for the offensive troubles.

Those looking for Mark Dantonio to make a change following the season were surely disappointed when it looked like Roushar would return. Things have changed.

Roushar interviewed for a position with the New Orleans Saints earlier this week and apparently things went well. Michigan State has confirmed that Roushar is leaving MSU to become the running backs coach in New Orleans. He has experience working as a running backs coach in the college ranks, although most of his work as a position coach was with the offensive line.

There is no early indication what the Spartans will do to fill the vacancy.
