Miguel Cabrera Shows Spring Power Surge Leads Detroit Tigers Over Phillies

During Monday’s game, The Detroit Tigers triple crown winner Miguel Cabrera hit a three-run homer in route to a 10-1 victory over the Philadelphia Phillies. Sure its early but its still nice to see that Miguel Cabrera is hitting homers in the spring. 2 homers be exact and in only 4 games. That means he is on pace for…

Well it may be too early to start thinking about home run records.  But is it too early to wonder if Miguel Cabrera can match his 2012 triple crown performance? After all the Tigers line-up has only improved. With the addition of Tori Hunter the Tigers should have more runners on base when Miguel Cabrera comes to bat. More men on base for the big dog should mean more ribeyes to chew on.

That is good news for the hungry Detroit Tigers who seemed to have trouble scoring during stretches last season.

The other piece of good news from this game is the fast start from some Detroit Tiger hopefuls.  Former Yankee farmhand Kevin Russo and #21 prospect Nick Castellanos also went yard in the victory. Both players are trying to make their case to travel north with the team in April. The Tigers will try to continue their powerful spring start Tuesday February 26th at Joker Marchant Stadium. Doug Fister will also make his spring debut in this game against the Atlanta Braves at 1:05.
