Detroit Titans: Horizon League Tournament Starts Tonight

If the Detroit Titans are to make a second-consecutive NCAA tournament appearance they will have to win the Horizon League tournament, which gets underway tonight.

The good news for the Titans is that the tournament will be halfway over by the time they get involved. Their second place finish in the Horizon League regular season earned them a double bye, thereby skipping the first two rounds and sending the Titans straight to the conference semifinals.

The first round game the Titans will have their eye on tonight is between Youngstown State and Loyola. The winner there moves on to play Wright State, who received a first round bye. That winner then faces Detroit at 6 p.m. ET on Saturday March 9.

Second round and semifinal games will be hosted by regular season champion Valparaiso who also received a double bye. Should Valpo win their game in the semis, they would host the championship game on Tuesday March 12. Detroit would host the championship game should they advance and Valpo does not.
