Yesterday, the Lions gave an original-tender to offensive tackle Jason Fox. Today, they were back at it with Willie Young, this time, however, it will be a second round tender. Young will make $2.023 million next season.

It was widely believed, new co-defensive line coach Jim Washburn was brought in to help Young. He once was viewed as the eventual replacement to Kyle Vanden Bosch, but his drop off last year left much to be desired.
With Ronnell Lewis the only defensive end signed on the roster, the Lions were smart to protect a piece, they believe will help them moving forward.
Young had three sacks in 2011, but he regressed to just 11 tackles without a sack.
