Detroit Pistons Look to End Miami Heat's Winning Streak

In many ways, the Detroit Pistons’ season is ending while the Miami Heat’s is just beginning. The Heat’s big three got their championship a year ago but now look to make good on LeBron’s promise to win not one, not two… well, however many championships it was he figured the Heat would win.

A team like the Heat need something to stay interested in the regular season and they have found it in their current winning streak. Winners of 24 in a row, the Heat look like a team more than capable of challenging the league-record 33-game winning streak set by the Los Angeles Lakers during the 1971-72 season.

Can the Pistons pull the plug tonight? Smart money says no. The Heat sit at 24 in a row having beaten good teams and bad teams. Games they’ve controlled and game’s they haven’t controlled. On Wednesday the heat trailed on the road to the Cleveland Cavaliers by 27 points in the third quarter before ultimately winning by three.

The Pistons enter on a streak of their own having lost nine in a row and 12 of 13 overall. The Pistons’ chances look slim but they can cling to a 109-99 win back on December 28 for hope.
