Jose Valverde Arrival In Lakeland Delayed

Jose Valverde is late for work. Apparently he is stuck at the border.

For us here in Michigan it is a common occurance to get held up at the border. When that happens to us is not news. When you are the contriversial former major league closer and your boss is the Detroit Tigers, everyone notices.  The Detroit News is reporting that Jose Valverde’s arrival in Lakeland, Florida will be delayed because of a passport issue.  Jose Valverde is a native of the Dominican Republic.

This happened to another Jose in Detroit this year.  Earlier in the basketball season, The Detroit Pistons acquired Jose Calderon in a trade with the Toronto Raptors.  Visa issues kept him from playing for about a week.

Similar situation here as the Detroit Tigers were unable to give a timetable on when he would join the Lakeland Tigers.

This should give Bruce Rondon a little more time to tune -up before the big potato tries to leapfrog him into the Detroit bully. In case you were wondering Rondon has pitched 1 scoreless inning for the Toledo Mudhens.
