Unlike last year, when Lions wide receiver Calvin Johnson was honored by gracing the cover of Madden 2013 (while beating players such as Cam Newton in the process), Madden 25 will consist of both current and former players competing for the prestigious cover. There’s two sides, old school and new school, featuring players such as Colin Kaepernick, Andrew Luck and Clay Matthews of the current NFL stars.
The voting is down to the semifinals, pitting Barry Sanders against Jerry Rice (You can vote here on ESPN), and Minnesota Vikings running back Adrian Peterson versus Houston Texans running back Arian Foster. Sanders has taken down the likes of Marcus Allen, Ray Lewis and most recently, Joe Montana on his way to the final four.
He sent out a tweet to the Lion faithful to get on ESPN and vote.

Jerry Rice is widely proclaimed the top wide receiver to ever play the game. This past season, Lions wide receiver Calvin Johnson broke Rice’s record for most receiving yards in a season, with 1,964 yards.
Barry Sanders, in his own right, is widely proclaimed as the most elusive back of all-time. If not for a sudden retirement, it’s likely Sanders would’ve broke Walter Payton’s all-time career rushing mark (which was later broken by Emmitt Smith). Sanders ended his career with 15,269 yards on 3,062 carries, falling just 1,457 yards away from the record.
The voting remains open through April 17th.
