Fans were told on Monday that a decision would be made about Todd Bertuzzi’s status for the Red Wings game against the Los Angeles Kings after the morning skate. The Red Wings determined that right winger would be out for tonight against the Kings but could return Thursday against Nashville. Todd Bertuzzi has missed most of the season with back spasms that have effected his leg. After the skate he said he needs “one more hard skate” before he can come back.
The return of Todd Bertuzzi would certainly spark a Red Wings team that until last game looked disinterested in making the playoffs. If the Wings were to make the playoffs, having him on the ice could help a team that has struggled to find the net all season.
The Detroit Red Wings are just one point behind the Columbus Blue Jackets for the eighth spot in the NHL Western Conference. A win tonight would go a log way to securing that spot with the Blue Jackets playing Dallas tomorrow night.
You can catch all the action from the Joe Louis Arena tonight on the NBC sports network begining at 7:30pm. @detroitjockcity will be tweeting during the game to get your reaction to the Red Wings playoff push.
