Todd McShay's Latest NFL Mock Draft Has The Detroit Lions Selecting Ezekiel Ansah

The Anti-Kiper Todd McShay has updated his NFL Mock Draft and (big shock) he disagrees with the helmet-haired draft guru.  In their annual of Draft predictions, McShay has a much different scenario playing out for Detroit Lions than does Mel Kiper. Mel Kiper’s latest NFL Mock Draft has the Lions filling a need at CB with Dee Millner. Although McShay agrees with Kiper on the top picks, he seems the think the Lions have a stronger need on the Defensive Line than at CB.  Here is how McShay’s top five pans out:

1. Chiefs – Luke Joeckel – LT Texas A&M

2. Jaguars – Eric Fisher – LT – Central Michigan University

3. Oakland Raiders – Shariff Floyd – DL – Florida

4. Philadelphia Eagles – Lance Johnson- OT – Oklahoma

5. Detroit Lions –  Ezekiel Ansah – DE – BYU

Ziggy Ansah is a quite the physical specimen but is raw. He was talked into to trying out for the football team at BYU after never having touched a footbal before college. His work ethic and physical ability have helped him rise to one of the top picks in the 2013 NFL Draft. But he is a project and can the Detroit Lions afford another project?

In McShay’s NFL Mock Draft the top offensive linemen will be off the board by the time the Detroit Lions select at #5 so why not fill a need at DE.  The problem with line of thinking is the Lions needs are greater on the offensive line.  If all the offensive tackles are off the board the Lions could select Chance Warmack at guard.  Afterall haven’t Martin Mayhew and company claimed the 2012 pick Riley Reiff can handle the left tackle duties.

Find out which NFL Mock Draft is right on draft night by joining Detroit Jock City draft expert Bradley LaBrie (he is our Tood McShay but not as good looking) during a LiveBlog.  Bradley and I will be discussing each pick and how it effects the Detroit Lions drive to the playoffs.
