2013 NFL Draft: Detroit Lions Select Ezekiel Ansah With 5th Overall Pick

The Detroit Lions select Ezekiel Ansah with the fifth pick in the 2013 NFL Draft.  Ziggy is a raw talent that was talked into trying out for the BYU football team.  The business student from Ghana never saw a football before his time at BYU.  Ezekiel Ansah joins an offensive line that lost Cliff Avril in the off-season.

Ziggy Ansah was pleased with his team saying could couldn’t wait to play with that defensive line:

Ezekiel Ansah was selected after the top three offensive tackles were off the board by the fifth pick.  It was speculated that the Detroit Lions would trade down to later in the 1st round if they couldn’t get a tackle but the Lions took a gamble on a raw talent with a ton of upside. Apparently that was not in the cards as the Detroit Lions selected a raw talent that has pure pass rush ability.

Will the Lions Draft day bet pay-off? If you consider Ziggy Ansah’s intangibles the answer is yes. Ansah has a ton of heart and deterination, Qualities took him from obscurity to top 5 NFL draft pick.

The 2013 NFL Draft is not over yet.  Come back to Detroit Jock City all weekend for the latest draft news and incites.
