In New York, the Detroit Lions were finishing the 2nd and 3rd rounds of the 2013 NFL draft. Meanwhile back home in the D the Tigers were tomahawking the Braves. Here is what happened in Detroit Sports on Friday:
Detroit Lions Draft:
2nd Round Pick – Darius Slay CB via Detroit Jock City
The Lions took defensive end Ezekiel Ansah with the 5th overall pick on Thursday. They’ve now bolstered their defense with the selection of cornerback Darius Slay. He ran the fastest forty-yard dash by any cornerback at the combine (4.36), and is known for his physical play (standing 6-foot, 192 lbs. with long arms of 32 1/4 inches). ESPN’s Chirs Mortensen had this to say following the selection.

3rd Round Pick – Larry Warford via Detroit Jock City
Warford became the first Kentucky offensive lineman taken since 1993. He also became the first Wildcat offensive lineman to be selected as an All-American since 1983. He has the build — 6-foot-3, 332 pounds — lower body strength and ability to get to the next level that thrills scouts. In the Senior Bowl, the Lions coaching staff had an up close look at Warford, and obviously liked what they saw.
