The Detroit Tigers offense continued to beat up on opposing pitching behind another home-run from Prince Fielder. Fielder hit his second dinger in as many days giving him 2 HR and 5 RBI in the series.
The Red Wings and Ducks traded power play goals in the first and hits in the second. Unfortunately the Ducks scored two in the third to win the game 3-1. With that the Ducks take a series lead 1-0 with Game 2 on Thursday night at 10:00pm.
Good news, Detroit Lions fans — Las Vegas is buying on Ziggy Ansah. Detroit’s first-round pick is the early favorite, along with Pittsburgh Steelers linebacker Jarvis Jones, to be the 2013 NFL Defensive Rookie of the Year.
The Detroit Pistons coaching search has begun in earnest. The Free Press has learned the Pistons have interviewed Lindsey Hunter and Nate McMillan for their vacant head coaching position.Hunter’s interview occurred Monday and McMillan interviewed for the position today. Hunter, 42, is currently the Suns coach, but his status is in question since Phoenix is in the process of hiring a general manager. He was a Pistons first-round pick in 1993 and spent 12 of his 17 seasons with the Pistons. He was a member of the 2004 NBA champions. McMillan, 48, a former coach with the Blazers and Sonics, has one of the best resumes among the list of former coaches and up-and-coming assistants that are rumored to be in the running for the job.
