BREAKING: 2013 Stanley Cup Playoffs: Samuelsson to Start For Wings

Helen St. James of the Detroit Free Press is reporting that Mikeal Samuelsson will start in place of Todd Bertuzzi for tonight’s game three against the Anaheim Ducks.  Samuelsson will skate on the fourth line with Corey Emmerton and Patrick Eaves.  Samulesson has been used very little this playoffs related to his missing 41 games during the regular season.

Hopefully inserting a veteran like  Samuelsson will help provide some consistency to a Wings team that has  played with varying levels of intensity and concentration during the series. The Red Wings need more contribution from their veteran players after losing fireplug Dan Dekeyser to a broken thumb during Thursday’s game.

The Red Wings enter tonight’s game tied with the Ducks 1-1 in the first round of the Stanley Cup Playoffs.  After tieing the series in Anaheim on Thursday, the Wings have home ice advantage and could gain control of the series with a win in pivotal game 3.  The puck drops on the opening face off tonight at 7:30.  You can catch the game on Fox Sports Detroit with pre-game starting at 7:00. Detroit Jock City will be on Twitter during the game and on Detroitjockcity.com after the game for the latest news and views on Detroit’s Stanley Cup run.
