Detroit Tigers third baseman Miguel Cabrera looked as if he was injured during Wednesday game in Washington D.C.  Miguel was visibly in some pain as he came off the field in the top of the sixth after grounding out.

After the game, Miguel Cabrera told Mlive:

“My lower back was a little sore,”  ”But it’s no big deal. I was able to play nine innings. Hopefully tomorrow they will work it out, I’ll get a good stretch and be ready to play.”

That’s good news for Tigers fans.  Miguel Cabrera has been one of only consistent offensive performers this season so far. The rest of the Tigers offense has been streaky, prone to boughts of run scoring drought. With the way the offense has been going a Cabrera trip to the DL could be difficult to overcome.

If the Detroit Tigers were to lose Cabrera for any length of time some of the other Tigers bats would have to step up to fill the void for a player who is performing at an MVP pace. Miguel Cabrera is hitting .381 with 6 HR and 37 RBI in 2013.

The Tigers will continue their short two-game series against the Nationals tomorrow at 4:05 pm. Remember to stay logged on to Detroit Jock City for all the Tigers news and views. Follow us on Twitter @detroitjockcity.
