Detroit Tigers Win Streak Snapped At Four

The Detroit Tigers rolled into Washington D.C. with a 4 game win streak and got rolled.  Jordan Zimmerman shut down the Detroit Tigers offense by allowing only 1 run over 7 innings. Bryce Harper supplied the offense with his 10 HR as the Nationals defeated the Tigers 3-1.

Miguel Cabrera drove in the only Tigers run with an RBI single in the top of the third. The one run scored is a far cry from the offensive explosion that took place over the weekend in Houston. Anibal Sanchez gave up 3 runs over six innings to record another quality start but the Tiger bats left him high and dry.  Sanchez looked sharp but miscues on defense combined and poor offensive production cost the Tigers a victory.

Maybe going from playing a last place bottom feeder to World Series contender was to difficult a transition to make. That said, Tigers hitters with the exception of Miguel Cabrera has been streaky all season.

The Tigers will try to split the series with the Washington Nationals on Thursday in a 4:05 start. The pitching match-up will be Doug Fister 4-0 vs. Dan Haren 3-3. You can catch the game on Fox Sports Detroit and on 97.1 the ticket.
