Red Wings Control Game 3 and Series

The Red Wings controlled the Game 3 from start to finish and won taking a 2-1 series lead. The win is the second consecutive win for the Wings over the President’s Cup Winner Chicago Blackhawks. Gustav Nyquist drew first blood scoring on a wrister in the second period, his second of the playoffs.

Jimmy Howard was outstanding in goal giving up only one goal on 39 shots. It may have been Howard’s best game of the playoffs yet as the Red Wings netminder seems to get better with each playoff game.

Jimmy Howard would have a had a shut-out if not for a goals scored on a breakaway after Franzen got crushed into the boards.  Certainly a hit worthy of review by the Director of Player Safety. Franzen got even in the best way possible however when he assisted Pavel Datsyuk in the third period making the score 3-1 and putting the game out of reach.

Here are my Three Stars for Game 3:

  1. Jimmy Howard – 39 Saves
  2. Drew Miller – 1 goal (1st of the playoffs)
  3. Gustav Nyquist – 1 goal (2nd of playoffs)

Series gets an extra day off before resuming on with Game 4 on Thursday at Joe Louis Arena. The game will be televised on the NBC sports network starting at 7:30 pm.

Ask me Chicago Blackhawks are pretty much poor Sportsmanship! And for Chicago’s captain to be honest for a captain he’s a real big poor sport, if they are losing a game, He complained to everyone about the referees on game 2. And was kind of using it as an excuse! Now his game 3 where’s his excuse now. I think he need to shut up and start playing some hockey if they want to beat the red wings. The Red Wings are one of the most hated teams in the NHL because of their success. They played a great game today and peaked in fair and square! Pavel score was a replay of when they played the ducks! Amazing score wow. The red wings are not to be looked over by anyone anymore this year. If you ask me they have earned their respect! Good job red wings

We really got under their skin in the game. We outplayed them and they had no response to it.
