Breaking: Super Bowl L has been awarded to San Francisco

During the NFL owners spring meetings, the owners have voted that Super Bowl L in 2016 will be hosted by  San Francisco in the new Levi’s Stadium.  Super bowl L will mark the first time the game has been held in California in 13 years.  Yesterday it was reported by NFL News that San Francisco became the front-runner after Miami failed to secure funding for renovations to Sun Life Stadium.

Earlier this month the 49er’s new home in Santa Clara, California got $220 million dollars in funding by striking a naming deal with the Jean maker.Levi’s Stadium has innovative plans. The plans include the NFL’s first ticketless and cashless stadium.  According to the Stadiums website, it will also be equipped with over 13,000 square feet of HD Video boards. Put that in your pipe and smoke it Jerry Jones. Fans will also be able to control their experience from a smart phone.

The owners also voted in the meeting to award Super Bowl LI in 2017 to Houston’s Reliant Stadium.  Houston recently hosted the Super Bowl in 2004.

So when is Detroit’s Ford Field going to host its next Super Bowl.  One thing is for certain the next chance of hosting the NFL’s annual title game isn’t until 2018.  Maybe after Detroit emerges from its current financial crisis we will get another shot to host the big game.
