In conjunction with Big Ten Conference meeting in Chicago the University of Michigan released it 2014 football schedule.  The 2014 schedule features two newcomers to the Big Ten Conference as Rutgers and Maryland will play the inaugural Big Ten seasons.  The 2014 season also includes realigned divisions because of the expansion. Michigan will play in the East division and their opponents will include the best the Big Ten has to offer.

Big Ten East Division

  • Rutgers
  • Michigan
  • Michigan State
  • Maryland
  • Ohio State
  • Indiana
  • Penn State

Michigan also has one very interesting non-conference opponent.  In 2014 the Wolverines will open the season against Appalachian State. If you recall the Appalachian State Mountaineers beat the Wolverines at home in 2007 in a stunning upset.  A moment in time Michigan fans has tried to forget but now are forced to relive. It took a couple of years for the program to recover from that (and the Rich-Rod Era). All in all this is a game Wolverine fan can get fired up for even if the only reason is revenge.

Other non-conference opponents include the usual MAC team and Notre Dame. Here is the 2014 schedule.
