Detroit Tigers vs Minnesota Twins Series Preview Probable Pitchers and Start Times

The Tigers begin a home stand this weekend against the Minnesota Twins.  The Twins started better than expected this season but gave all that ground back and are currently on a 8 game losing streak.  Twins pitching got knocked around by the Braves in their last series giving up 18 runs during the three game set.

The Tigers won a pair of games against the Indians to pull 1/2 game out of first place in the AL Central.  Taking care of the Minnesota Twins in this four game series would go a long way to re-establishing themselves as front-runners in the AL Central.

Players to watch:

  • Miguel Cabrera is on a tear right now. In his last 7 games he has an average of .500 and OPS of 1.821 to go with 11 RBI.  He has also hit 5 Home Runs in the last 3 games pushing his total to 13.  That’s good for second in the American League and puts him on pace to hit 48 this season.
  • Max Scherzer is a perfect 6-0 this season and will try for his 7th win on Sunday/
  • Justin Morneau is the hot hitter for the Twins batting .360 in his last 7 games.
  • Samuel Deduno is being recalled from AAA to make his first start for the Twins this season.  Deduno was 1-1 with a 9.64 ERA against the Detroit Tigers last season
