Seems the Detroit Pistons hiring of Maurice Cheeks has not gone over well with Pistons fans. Just as the news was breaking fans reacted on twitter to the hire and the reaction was not what Pistons brass was looking for.

However not all reaction was bad. Some fans looked at Cheeks record as Portland head coach and saw potential for Cheeks to win here in Detroit.

And still other fans got confused as to which Detroit “Moe” people were talking about:

Now that Maurice Cheeks has been hired the Pistons can now turn full attention to the NBA Draft and free agency.

Outside of Coach Karl, Mo Cheeks is as good of a choice as anyone whos name has been thrown around. It is just a case of can he get the needle moving in the right direction and then is he the right person to push the needle forward and sometimes those aren’t the same people. I supported Frank and his use of Drummond at the start of the season and when Drummond came out in December and admitted he was just getting into full NBA game shape I was actually happy we had not misused our 1st rounder. He could have been thrown to the wolves being out of shape then when we actually saw him shine he would have been hitting the rookie wall and never have won the hearts of Det fans (good management). When I got concerned was when I heard Magettee state that nobody had told him he would be riding the bench when healthy, this is a courtesy that a vet should have gotten. If that courtesy was not given to a vet who was a financial placeholder then I question the effects it had on Jerebko, Stuckey and others who’s role we saw go undefined all season.
The players aren’t there for the Pistons to bring in 2 stars and be an elite team this season so they need to improve and leave flexibility to improve in future seasons (this was made more difficult with how we dumped Gordon and lost the 1st rounder).
Good Luck Maurice – if you do well you will be loved.
