Detroit Tigers 5  Baltimore Orioles 1 - Max Scherzer is 10-0! That is the first time a Detroit Tiger pitcher has been 10-0 to start the season since “Wabash” George Mullin did it in 1909.  He is the first major leaguer to do it since Roger Clemens did it in 1986. Drew Smyly entered the game in the 7th and pitched 3 hittless  innings while picking up a Willie Hernandez type save. Justin Verlander goes tomorrow in game two of the series.

The Detroit Pistons finally have their man. While the signing of Maurice Cheeks has been ripped by plenty of pundits in the media, at the very least the Pistons have made a decision, and they are moving forward.

Tigers: Place Anibal Sanchez and Alex Avila On Disabled List via Fansided

Earlier today the Detroit Tigers expressed concern about starting pitcher Anibal Sanchez. Their concern was well warranted as they’ve placed him on the disabled list this afternoon with a right shoulder strain. The move with be retroactive to yesterday, June 16th.

Red Wings: Interested in Stephan Wiess via Fansided

The Florida Panthers would like to re-sign 3o-year-old center Stephen Weiss, but it sounds like that’s going to be a tough task. Teams like the Nashville Predators are expected to enter the free agent sweepstakes for the veteran forward, and the Dallas Stars and Toronto Maple Leafs have also showed interest. Elliotte Friedmanrecently reported on “Hockey Night in Canada” that the Detroit Red Wings are now among the teams interested in Stephen Weiss.
