Detroit Tigers Recall Al Albuquerque To Assume Closer Duties

According to a tweet by John Heyman of CBS sports Al Albuquerque has been recalled from Toledo to assume the closer role.

The call up of Albuquerque to assume the closer role signals that the Detroit Tigers are still uneasy with Bruce Rondon despite pitching well for the Toledo Mudhens this season. Albuquerque has a 3.14 ERA in 10 games for the Toledo Mudhens this season. Fans have been eager to see how Al Albuquerque would respond if given the closer duties.  His nasty slider has a tendency to make hitters look silly but his mechanics make him vulnerable to injury. The fans will get their chance to see if  Al-Al has what it takes as he will be in the bullpen waiting for skipper Jim Leyland to hand him the ball.
