Max Scherzer Named American League Player Of The Week

Max Scherzer was named American League player of the week today behind two-wins that pushed his record to a perfect 11-0.  During those two wins Scherzer, struck out 16 batter in 13 innings and posted a 2.08 ERA.

What makes this acheivement more impressive is that Max Scherzer accomplished this against two of the best line-ups in the American League.  Baltimore leads the American League in home runs with 104 and slugging percentage (.455).  Boston leads the American League in runs with 394 and  RBI with 385.

Starts by Max Scherzer have turned into must see T.V. much like Justin Verlanders starts were two years ago.  He frequently pitches into the seventh inning and he adds to his league leading strikeout total every innings.  You can catch Max Scherzer’s next start on Friday against Tampa Bay.
