What does a guy gotta do to get a game postponed.  The probably would have been the only way the Detroit Tigers could have crawled back into the game against the Angels last night.

The Tigers couldn’t even play defense as they committed 6 errors in the en route to giving up 14 runs in a 14-8 loss to the Angels. The loss give the Angels a 4 game winning streak over the Tigers who were 10 games ahead of the Angels going into last nights game.

Bad Timing

The shelling couldn’t have come at a worse time for Rick Porcello.  After a series of decent outings last nights drubbing pushes his ERA to 5.27 and pushing his opponents batting average to .270 against.  But it wasn’t just Rick Porcello that who got soaked last night, middle relievers Darin Downs and Evan Reed gave up 7 runs (only 2 earned) and walked 3.

The hero for the Angels was J.B. Shuck who went 3 for 5 with 4 RBI.  He led and Angels attack that tallied a Playstation like 16 hits.  Even the slumping Josh Hamilton mustered 3 hits.

Silver Lining

There was a silver lining to last night storm clouds, Miguel Cabrera hit his 21st home run of the year and Torii Hunter chipped in 3 hits. Victor Martinez continued to improve by knocking in 2 runs.  He was 1 for 5.

The Detroit Tigers will continue the series against the Angels tonight at Comerica Park.  Jose Alvarez will get the start. 7:08 first pitch on Fox Sports Detroit.
