Detroit Tigers Bats Broken, Lose Series To Tampa Bay Rays

The Detroit Tigers lost today to the Tampa Bay Rays 3-1.  The Tigers only run came off the bat of Miguel Cabrera courtesy of his 25th home run of the season.  That was all the Tigers offense could muster as the Tigers hitters left 20 on base.

Rick Porcello rebounded nicely from his the last start when he gave up 7 earned runs.  Today Porcello gave up 3 over 6 innings and looked pretty sharp while doing it.  Phil Coke and Bruce Rondon pitched-in 2 scoreless innings but it was all wasted due to the Tigers lack of offense.

Yunel Escobar, who had the game winning hit the night before, knocked in his second RBI of the series and the Rays third run of the game.  Wil Myers continued the hot start to his major league career by getting another hit today. Myers was a Tiger killer this series hitting .384 with a home run off Max Scherzer in the first game of the series.

The Tigers loss drops the into a first place tie with the Cleveland Indians in the American League Central.  The Tigers have lost 5 of their last six and it could come at a worst time as they travel to Baltimore for a three game set with the Orioles.
