BREAKING: Detroit Red Wings Sign Stephen Weiss


Multiple sources are now reporting that Stephen Weiss has signed with the Detroit Red Wings for a reported 5 years at $4.9 million per season.  Stephen Weiss had a choice between the St. Louis Blues and the Wings and chose the newest member of the Eastern Conference.

Weiss scored 145 goals in 11 NHL seasons as a Florida Panther.

Stephen Weiss will see the Florida Panthers again. Now that the Wings have moved to the Eastern Conference, the Panthers are now division rivals.

The $4.9 million dollar contract is bargain for the Red Wings. Weiss was estimated to command upwards of $6 million season. Now the Red Wings can take the extra cap space and focus on signing key unrestricted free agent Damian Brunner.
