As tweeted by Ken Rosenthal, the Detroit Tigers scouts were in Chicago during Matt Garza’s start on Saturday. The Tigers are not expected to be in the market for a starting pitcher. But as Rosenthal points out there are two cubs relievers that might be of interest to the Tigers at the trade deadline.

The Detroit Tigers interest in Kevin Gregg is understandable. He is having a great season with an ERA of 1.95 while converting 17 of 19 save opportunities. Gregg is no stranger to the closer’s role either having done the job for the Marlins, Orioles, Cubs and Blue Jays. It was 2010 Toronto when Kevin Gregg set his career high in saves at 37.
It is unknown what the Tigers would be willing to offer for Gregg. It is safe to assume the rebuilding Chicago Cubs will want a prospect in return and 3B/OF Nick Castellanos will most certainly be on the short list.
