What many fans believed was inevitable is now reality.  Max Scherzer was named starting pitcher for the American League All-Star game on Tuesday.  The announcement comes as no surprise, as Max Scherzer clearly earned the honor after extending his undefeated mark to 13-0.  Scherzer had his undefeated streak snapped with a 7-1 loss to the Rangers on Saturday.  He is 13-1 with a 3.19 ERA.

Leyland said before Sunday’s game against the Rangers that he would only use Max Scherzer for one inning during the mid summer classic.  The question at the time was which inning.  Well the question has been answered and Scherzer expressed humility about being chosen over other great American League pitchers like Felix Hernandez.

The All-Star game will be aired on Fox on Tuesday, July 16th with coverage begining at 7:30 pm
