Justin Verlander Replaced On All-Star Roster By Chris Tillman

Justin Verlander is an all-star but now so is Chris Tillman of the Baltimore Orioles.  Chris Tillman was added to the American League All-Star roster to replace Justin Verlander who pitched Sunday against the Texas Rangers.  For those who thought Tillman was snubbed, now all is right with the world.

Players who pitched on the Sunday before the All-star game are allowed to pitch in the mid-summer classic but they have to get permission from their club to do it.  Jim Leyland has always maintained he wouldn’t play a starting pitcher who pitched on Sunday, so it was expected he would replace Verlander on the roster.

Justin Verlander is still an all-star he is just not eligible to be used on the game.

Justin Verlander is 10-6 with a 3.50 ERA.  Chris Tillman is 11-3 with a 3.95 ERA.
