2013 NHL Free Agency: Detroit Red Wings Sign Brendan Smith


Ken Holland and the Detroit Red Wings have made a big splash in the offseason by signing top free agent Steven Weiss and Daniel Alfredsson.  Now the Detroit Red Wings are concentrating on signing their own free agents to fill out their roster.

Ken Holland signed Defensemen Brendan Smith to a two year deal worth an undisclosed amount. Brendan Smith played 38 games with the Wings the 2012-13 season. He was a key player in the teams surprise run at the Stanley Cup scoring two key goals while accumulating 5 play-off points.

Smith is a former first round pick from 2007 and by signing the two year deal Smith stays with the club he broke into the NHL with.
