Detroit Tigers All-Stars Dominate Midsummer Classic

The Detroit Tigers All-Star contingent represented their team well by dominating the game offensively and defensively.

Miguel Cabrera doubled and then scored the American Leagues first run on a Jose Bautista sacrifice fly. He also made solid defensive plays through his 5 innings of work.

Prince Fielder legged out a triple in his only at-bat of the game.

The Tigers team batting for the All-Star game 3 for 6 with 1 double 1 triple and 1 run scored.

Max Scherzer did not disappoint as the American League starter.  He pitched a scoreless first with 1 strike-out while sending down the NL All-Stars 1-2-3.

The Detroit Tigers efforts helped the American League win the All-Star game 3-0. With the win the American League snaps a three-game losing streak in the Midsummer Classic and earned home field advantage for the 2013 World Series.

The All-Star game MVP was awarded Mariano Rivera who pitched a scoreless 8th inning.  Rivera became the first reliever to win the All-Star game MVP and the first pitcher to do it since Pedro Martinez.
