Detroit Tigers Fans Should Lower Expectations For Justin Verlander

Watching Justin Verlander struggle with his control and then subsequently melt down after borderline call from the homeplate umpire that lead to a walk I came to the following conclusion. This season, I have to lower my expectations of the former Cy Young award winner.

This season Justin Verlander is a good pitcher instead of a great pitcher.  Any given day he can still go out and shut down and opponent.  Just don’t expect him to do it EVERY time.  Even against opponents that he usually dominates, like the Kansas City Royals.

Justin Verlander is still the world-class talent he has been the last couple of seasons. JV is just having a bad year. Every player goes through it. That said to put this in perspective, Verlander will still have more than 15 wins and a sub – 4 ERA at the end of the season.  Not the season we are used to from our Ace, but still very good.
