Darius Slay is adjusting to life in the NFL. According to those observing Detroit Lions Training Camp he is adjusting very nicely. The Detroit Lions second round pick is impressing observers with his work ethic and play making ability. Definitely good news for Lions fans who have seen their team struggle mightily in the secondary in past seasons.

Darius Slay spoke with Detroitlions.com blogger Tara Altman about the speed and intensity of an NFL practice
“I feel good about the tempo of practice. I feel like I’m up to speed and I can keep up with everybody. I have to make sure that I continue to take care of my body more because I do feel it when it comes time at the end of practice, but I just keep pushing through it. The first padded practice was very intense. First part of practice, you want to be good to put it on film for us to watch. Everybody is trying to do their job. If you mess up, make sure you correct it and do it at full speed, running to the ball and all that stuff. It was just real intense. I have to get used to that, I haven’t been in pads in a long time.”
The Detroit Lions are hoping the Slay can insert himself in the starting line-up at cornerback for the 2013 campaign. They will need an immediate impact their 2nd round pick to help a Lions defense that was 14th against the pass last season.
