It was business as usual for Miguel Cabrera as he launched a 2-out 1st inning blast off White Sox ace Chris Sale to give the Detroit Tigers an early lead. Brayan Pena, playing for the injured Alex Avila, crushed an RBI double in the second inning scoring Matt Tuiasosopo to tack on another run for the Tigers. But 2 runs is all the Tigers could muster for starter Doug Fister who gave up 4 runs in 6 innings of work.
Chris Sale turned in another brilliant performance by throwing a complete game after settling down in the third inning. Sale, who normally gets around 2 runs of support per game, got 6 runs from his club in route to a 6-2 victory for the White Sox.
The loss reduces the Detroit Tigers lead in the American League central division by 6 1/2 games over the 2nd place Kansas City Royals. The Motor City Kitties have now lost 3 of their last 4 and will loom to get back on the winning track tonight in Chicago.
