Fantasy Football Focus: Calvin Johnson Knee Injury Not A Concern

Calvin Johnson sat out Thursdays preseason game against the Cleveland Browns with a knee contusion.  However, Calvin Johnson owners shouldn’t be concerned.  Megatron played all of last season with a broken finger and still managed to break Jerry Rice’s record for receiving yards. Granted a knee is a much different injury than a finger but there is reason to believe that Johnson’s knee injury was embellished a bit in  order to rest the Lions best offensive player.

After all does Calvin Johnson really need the reps in preseason?  Not much to prove for the best offensive player in the National Football League.

Without Johnson in the line-up the Detroit Lions showed just how much they need him to score.  Stafford struggled without his primary offensive weapon and the other receivers on the field failed to step forward. From a fantasy perspective, Stafford’s success will depend on Johnson’s ability to stay on the field not the other way around.

Week 1 Outlook:

Megatron owners should not only expect Calvin Johnson to play on opening day but with healthy hands expect him to catch more touchdowns this season.
