Daron Cruickshank should be a ranked in the top ten in UFC’s lightweight division. His last fight against Yves Edwards proved it. On UFC on Fox 8 Cruickshank dismantled Yves Edwards, a MMA veteran with 42 career wins. Edwards may be on the downside of his career but he is no tomato can and when the UFC needed and opponent for Edwards for the event in Seattle, the Detroit Superstar answered the call…..and delivered.
It was Cruickshank who looked like the more experienced veteran. He countered every move Edwards made beautifully and broke down his fighting style right there in the ring. Crucikshank showed himself to be the superior tactition. He studied his opponent in the ring, expolited weaknesses, avoided strikes and countered. That is what a taction is supposed to do when they haven’t had months to prepare for a fighter.
Yves Edwards was a quality opponent and after Daron Cruickshank defeated him on short notice, it is time for the UFC to reward the him with a shot at a ranked opponent. The time has come to give the Detroit Superstar a chance to rep his city on a bigger stage. He needs to be given the opportunity to showed the full range of his balanced fighting style. If given the opportunity he will shine just like the city and state he represents.
