The first of many Detroit Lions Roster cuts happend this weekend when the team cut 4 players including last years 4th round pick Ronnell Lewis.  Lewis played at defensive end one of the deepest positions on the roster.  After the Lions drafted Ziggy Ansah and Devin Thomas and signed free agents Jason Jones and Isreal Idonjie, Lewis became expendable.

Other players cut include former Central Michigan University Chippewa reciever Cody Wilson. Veteran Safety Chris Hope and Cornerback Myron Lewis.

Lewis Delmas’ return to health and the signing of corner back Rashean Mathis could have led to Hope and Myron Lewis being cut from the roster.  The Detroit Lions must get their roster down to 75 by Tuesday and need to make 5 more cuts to make that mark.

Other players who might be on the bubble include Kickalicious Havard Rugland and Running Back Theo Riddick.  Micheal Spurlock and Patrick Edwards could also be near the end of their quest to make the roster.  After Calvin Johnson missed the last two preseason games with a knee bruise, the other receivers failed to step up causing the Lions to look across the league for wide receiver help.
