The Detroit Lions began their latest round of cuts by waiving CB Chris Greenwood. Greenwood was a fifth round draft choice in 2012 but missed last season because of injury. Greenwood was literally playing for his job on Thursday against the Buffalo Bills but got smoked on a 79 yard touchdown in the fourth quarter.
Greenwood is part of a first round of cuts that include Lions draft choice Corey Fuller and Central Michigan stand-out Darren Keyton. It’s not all bad news for these guys. If these players clear waivers they will be eligible to join the 8 man practice squad. According to Tim Twentyman of Detroitlions.com, the Lions have already offered a practice squad spot to Greenwood if he clears waivers.
The remainder of the Detroit Lions Roster cuts will be made today. However, don’t expect the Lions to quit tinkering with the roster. As the other NFL teams make their cuts the Lions could still pick up some one from the waiver wire. For those players on the bubble, it will be a long weekend.
