Miguel Cabrera is the key to a long playoff run, the Detroit Tigers have enough talent to win this division without him in the lineup for the last month.  Now I am not a doctor, but I believe this would make him 80-90% and right now he is 60-70%.  He is struggling to run out ground balls, he aggravated his injury sliding into second base going for a double, plus he cringes every time he fouls a ball off his shin. Other players need to step up in his absence.  Jim Leyland needs to do his job and look out for his long term health because as long as he is this injured he his hurting this team by playing.

If they get him 80-90% he can carry this team to a World Series, if he is 60-70% come playoff time its a coin toss.  I know he has done damage during the injury, but I believe as time has gone by he is getting worse and is starting to hurt his ability to be productive.  He went 0-4 last time he played.

This would also be a good time to see what we have in Nick Castellanos.  Mr. Castellanos used to play 3rd base and he has a better bat than Don Kelly, plus since he really has not gotten any major league experience this would get him key at bats.  This would also give us some idea if Castellanos is gonna be in the mix next year.  We should make the playoffs either way however they will have a better chance at the World Series if Cabrera is not as banged up.  Other wise this is gonna be another sad ending to a playoff run.

Agreed! He definitely needs to rest more if we are going to have
him strong for the playoffs. They say playing won’t make him worse, but
certainly isn’t making him better either. Nights like last night showed the
rest of the line up can step up. Miggy only had 1 of the 26 hits.

Rest him and give his injury time to heal
