The Western Michigan Broncos host the Nicholls State Colonels in their home opener at Waldo Stadium. The Broncos are coming off an impressive 23-13 loss to the Michigan State Spartans last weekend. The Broncos scored 13 points while managing to hold down the Spartans offense. The only reason the game wasn’t closer was the absolute dominance displayed by the Spartan defense.
The Broncos lost Senior Quarterback Tyler Van Tubbergen in the second quarter after being sacked. Van Tubbergen missed the remainder of the game with concussion like systems. Van Tubbergen has been cleared to start the game against Nicholls State and will try to get back on track after throwing two interceptions before being knocked out of last weeks game.
Broncos head coach PJ Fleck told David Drew of MLive that Tyler Van Tubbergen looked good in practice all week.
I think you saw everything that he used to do, He hasn’t done anything different. He looked like Tyler, and if he looked like Tyler he was going to play.”
The Broncos lead the series with Nicholls State 2-0 and last defeated them in 2011
