Michigan State Spartans Offense Stumbles In Win Over South Florida 21-6

The Spartans continued a couple of streaks on the second week of the NCAA football season. For the second straight week a game at Spartans Stadium a game was delayed by severe weather. Also for the second straight week, the Spartan defense outscored the offense.  Shilique Calhoun continued a streak of his own for the second week in a row Calhoun led the defense in scoring.

The Spartan defensive end scored twice. He scored on a fumble recovery and an interception while single handedly providing enough points to secure the victory.

After two games of quarterback by committee, the Spartan quarterback situation hasn’t become any more clear.  Mark Dantonio played three quarterbacks against South Florida and not one of them could muster even 50 passing yards. In fact, the combined yardage for the trio was only 94.

With the passing game ineffective, South Florida was able to close the door on the spartan running game. Last weeks rushing leader against Western Michigan, Jeremy Langford, scored a touchdown in the fourth quarter but could only manage to gain 38 yard on 9 carries.

The Spartans will have another week to work out the offensive bugs when they host Youngstown State at Spartan Stadium. Keep Checking with Detroit Jock City for all the latest on the Michigan State Spartans.
