The Michigan State Spartans are 2-0 but you couldn’t tell that by listening to Spartan nation this week. Sparty is wringing his hands over the lack of offense and he should be. The Spartans offense scored fewer points against Western Michigan than the Broncos week 2 1-AA opponent.
There is a lot at stake for the Spartan offense. The Spartans have a highly ranked defense and if the offense can’t score points, they run the risk of wasting one of the best defenses in years. Mark Dantonio is tinkering with the quarterbacks again this week and Connor Cook has been tagged to start for the Spartans against Youngstown State with freshmen Damien Terry backing him up. Spartan fans hope that the change in QB can inspire the offense to outscore the defense.
Michigan State must win this game and win big to appease Spartan fans. Otherwise the team and its fan base will have a crisis of confidence going into the Notre Dame game.
