Much has been made of Robert Griffin III struggles this season. But has he really struggled that badly? In each of his two games with the Redskins this year, RG III has passed for at least 300 yards and two touchdowns. His last game was his best when he passed for 326 and 3 TD’s. Griffin has been contained when it comes to his ground game but quarterbacks aren’t paid to rack up yards on the ground.
The major reason for the Redskins struggles this season have as much to do with the offensive line as it does with their quarterback. The Skins line has been man handled this season and have already allowed 4 sacks and 12 hurries. The defense hasn’t helped much either causing the Skins to get down early forcing them to play from behind. Once an offense becomes one-dimensional it becomes much more difficult for it to be effective.
Don’t Reinvent The Wheel
The Skins have had issues in the trenches this season. If the Lions can do what other teams have done to the Redskin offensive line, they should have a pretty good chance at winning the game. The common factor in the Skins two other games has been poor line play. The Redskins had difficulty establishing their offense early because of the pressure applied by opposing defensive line. It shouldn’t be difficult for the Lions to duplicate that success considering they have one of the best defensive lines in the league.
