Detroit Lions Joseph Fauria Could Play Big Role Versus Bears

An NFL story doesn’t feel much better than Joseph Fauria’s.  The nephew of 13-year NFL player Christian Fauria, Joseph Fauria made the Detroit Lions roster as an undrafted free agent out of training camp.  After having a outstanding preseason, Fauria has continued to make an impact on a Lions team that has had challenges with their depth at receiver. He has shown he can find the end zone scoring two touchdowns on 4 receptions so far this season.

That momentum could carry over into the Week 4 game against the Chicago Bears. With the injury to Nate Burleson and Patrick Edwards listed a doubtful.

Fauria has an excellent opportunity to showcase his versatility. Joseph Fauria has the size (6′ 7″), quickness and hands to play on the outside. His major weakness is blocking which has limited his snaps at tight-end. But more game time reps in the outside receiver slot will allow him to carve out a deeper role on this Lions team.

Watch for the young tight end to have a big game against the bears picking reps left by Burleson and Edwards. He will be an inviting target for Stafford when the Lions line him up outside considering the Bears will probably have Johnson double covered most of the game.
