Rashean Mathis left the game early against the bears after attempting to tackle Matt Forte. Mathis did not return for precautionary reasons. The Lions CB insists he did not lose consciousness and felt no effects from the hit. Nevertheless the coaching staff held him out to rule out concussion.
Rashean Mathis, who came to the Lions as a free agent during training camp, returned to practice on Monday and Wednesday. According to Kyle Meinke of MLive.com he felt dizziness after practice and feels as if he could play on Sunday.
Of course the final decision rests with Jim Schwartz, but if Mathis is cleared to play he will definitely be needed. Aaron Rodgers and the Packer passing attack will be looking to redeem themselves after a slow start to the 2013 campaign. The Lions are already short-handed in the secondary after losing Chris Houston to a leg injury on Sunday.
The Packers are desperate for a win and will be aggressively attacking the Lions secondary this weekend. Hopefully Mathis can return at 100% because the Lions will need all hands on deck to slow down the Packers.
