Detroit Red Wings Season Preview

A new NHL season is upon us and a lot has changed for the boys who wear the winged wheel. The Detroit Red Wings are now in the Eastern Conference and although most fans think of the Eastern Conference as a bigger more physical conference, General Manager Ken Holland says that won’t change the Red Wings strategy or style of play.

“We’re sticking to what we believe in,” Holland said. “We’re going East, we’ve got to roll four lines — as long as you got players on your team that are physical, they don’t back off and they don’t change they way they play.”

New Wings

There were big changes to the Red Wings roster this offseason.  The Red Wings made a huge splash in the free agent market by signing Florida Panther Winger Stephen Weiss and Ottawa Senators Captain Daniel Alfredsson. The Wings hope the free agent signings will add to the Detroit scoring punch.  Something they were missing at times during last years regular season.

Stephen Weiss and Daniel Alfredsson will anchor the second line and give the Red Wings some serious depth in the scoring department.
